A major objective of the Berlin Foundation is to bundle any available financial resources to promote Dermatology and its related clinical and scientific areas.
In particular, the foundation supports Research projects, especially those focused on dermatopharmacology and molecular biology in skin, suitable to convert scientific knowledge into clinical application towards a better diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases. In this context, the Foundation awards its Price to younger investigators as recognition of outstanding achievements in their fields on a national and international level. The amount of money awarded depends of the yearly available funds, upon decision of the Board. A further objective is the promotion of International exchange and support of foreign young colleagues for continuing education in Germany. Fellowships over a period of 3-6 months to one year are awarded, upon application, for specified educational purposes in qualified German academic institutions. Last not least, the Foundation aims to contribute in improving dermatological care in developing countries, preferably in Africa. |
